Sexual Abuse is a Public Health Crisis in India
Sexual violence is a major public health issue with substantial personal and societal repercussions in India. More than 50% Indians are victims of child and/or adult sexual abuse, living with lifelong health impacts. Sexual abuse has lifelong impacts on the survivor, that are often difficult to fully grasp.
-
1 in 2 Indian children, boys and girls, are victims of child sexual abuse
-
1 in 3 sexual abusers are family members
-
1 in 2 women and queer people are sexually harassed as adults

Our Goals:
-
declare that sexual abuse is a public health crisis in India
-
create mass awareness, long term public interest and engagement
-
encourage help seeking and reporting behaviour
-
create road maps to guide healthcare, law enforcement, judiciary, police, institutions and families to address root causes of sexual abuse, prevent further spread, enable reporting and justice at local and national levels
-
push for better policies to address the pandemic as a public health crisis
